Plastic Pails

Plastic pails are made out of HDPE (high density polyethylene). HDPE pails are FDA-approved for storing food products. Due to its high melting point and UV resistance, HDPE pails are also good for protecting chemicals along with a variety of products.

Openhed plastic pails range in size from 1 to 12 gallons. All pails with a 4-6 gallon capacity include the mandatory child warning label. They can be round or square and with or without threads. Openhead HDPE pails are used most often in the industrial, chemical, paint and coatings, household, agricultural, food storage, biohazard waste, automotive, building materials, and other industries. These containers can become UN rated when paired with a UN cover.

The most often used plastic pail is the 5 gallon. They are molded in one piece with the body designed for nesting purposes. The Food Grade 5 bucket meets the FDA requirements of 21CFR177.1520. However, there may be restrictions based on colors so reach out to an Inmark RCP expert with any questions to ensure the pail meets product-specific requirements.

Poly Pails Screw Top

Poly pails are a widely used style of screw top plastic containers popular in many industries. The screw top 5 gallon buckets are ideal for storage, stacking, and transport. They are child-resistant, senior-friendly, and provide a tamper evident feature as well. A vented lid for chemicals that need to breath is also available.

Size ranges from 1 to 12 gallons with either openhead round or openhead square. All three cover types include a tear tab: UN, non-UN, and screw-top. Standard colors are white and natural with other options also available. Plastic handles are also an option.

Steel Pails

Steel pails are recommended for shipping chemicals, paints, coatings, roofing mastics, and adhesives, railroad spikes, driveway sealers, edible oils, and more. Steel pails are highly durable and resistant to punctures.

The 5-gallon steel pails (also called 5-gallon steel buckets) are the most often requested metal container. There are two types: openhead (nested or straight-sided for storage and shipping) or closedhead. Both types can be ordered unlined, with or without a rust inhibitor, or with specific liners. Unlined openheads can be used for virtually any non-food liquid, solid, or semi-solid product. With the right cover and spout, a closedhead can be effective for containing liquids.

UN-certified and non-UN certified pails are available. Size range is 1 to 7.5 gallons. Choose from a dish/leverlock or lug cover. Gauge options are both UN and non-UN rated 24 to 29 gauge. Black, white, and grey are the standard color options.
